HUNTINGTON, WV (HNN) Another man has been shot by a member of the Huntington Police Department during an early morning incident about 1:20 a.m. Saturday morning Jan. 22. The incident occurred in the 900 block of Washington Avenue.

An HPD release stated that officers responded to a “shots fired” dispatch about 1:20 a.m. Saturday morning, then returned about 1:45 a.m. to find Mitchell Dunn, 51, standing on a porch at his home on Washington Avenue with a gun drawn.

Sgt. Church Kingery has stated that the suspect pointed a gun at police. The department stated he fired one round at officers.

Dunn suffered at least one wound and has been taken to Cabell Huntington Hospital.

An HPD news release stated that the suspect will be charged with wanton endangerment and attempted murder.

On Friday Jan. 14 officers responded to a domestic disturbance in Guyandotte where, according to an HPD press release officers shot and killed Raymond Adkins, 59, after he “charged” police and tried to take a weapon.

Adkins’ daughter, Leanna, disputed the account stating that her late father did not attempt to get a gun from an officer.
