BARBOURSVILLE, West Virginia – To meet demands of modern customers, online reservations are coming next year for campsites at Beech Fork State Park near Barboursville and Huntington. Beech Fork State Park manages 275 campsites at one of West Virginia’s most popular outdoors destinations.

“We rent more than 13,230 campsites from May through August each year,” said Beech Fork State Park Superintendent Matt Yeager. “Our campground is a temporary home for about 1,000 to 1,600 individuals on a given Friday through Saturday on summer weekends. Camping, combined with guests at six vacations cabins and swimming pool use, makes the park brimming with activity and people.”

Beginning midnight, Jan. 1, 2015, 136 campsites at Beech Fork State Park will be available for reservation online, up to one year in advance. To make reservations, visit the park website at www.beechforksp.com and click the tab “Online Campground Reservation.” The online capability allows campers access for 24-hour reservation service.

“Only individuals using the online reservation service can reserve a year in advance, beginning the first day of each month,” Yeager said. “The Beech Fork State Park online reservation system redirects customers to a secure reservation program and format.”

Camping reservations are also accepted by traditional methods beginning Feb. 15 with mail-in applications, followed by phone-in reservations beginning March 15, and then walk-in reservation beginning April 1, 2015.

“The development of an online reservation service for camping broadens this recreational service to the public,’” Yeager said. “We listened to our campers asking for online reservation capability. We’re trending traditional recreation into the 21st century for today’s camping public.”
