Adelman signs contract assumes WVSOM Presidency

Rodney Fink, DO, Board Chair stated HEPC members were most complimentary of Dr. Adelman's contributions to WVSOM and wholeheartedly concurred with the Board of Governors selection. Dr. Adelman, the second osteopathic physician to serve as WVSOM's president, affirmed his commitment to continue to embrace the institution's legacy of excellence. He further commented that he and his wife, Cheryl, fell in love with WVSOM and Lewisburg when they settled in the area nine years ago.
"This is our home and you are our family," he stated. "I am incredibly grateful to the Board of Governors, faculty, staff, students and the community for giving Cheryl and me the opportunity to serve in this role. I look forward to working with all of you in moving WVSOM forward."
Board of Governors members were joined by a capacity crowd of faculty, staff and students, offering their congratulations and support to Dr. Adelman with a standing ovation.
WVSOM's Acting President for the past nine months, Dr. Adelman previously served as the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean since 2002. He brings to the Presidency a strong background in osteopathic medical education on the local, state and national levels. He holds doctoral degrees in Osteopathic Medicine, Podiatric Medicine and Law.
