HAVE YOU HERD?
It was a career night Justin Edmonds (Albion, Mich.) and JP Kambola (Toronto, Ontario) on Saturday as each reached new scoring heights in a 79-63 win against Florida Atlantic. Edmonds led the Herd with 27 points, tripling his average, while Kambola contributed 16. Marshall shot a blistering 59 percent from the field, its best performance since 2013.

A WIN WOULD…

-          Give the Herd a three-game streak

-          Be the Herd’s eighth in the last 11 games

-          Give Marshall its most wins in C-USA play (eight) since the team went 9-7 in 2011-12

-          Give the Herd its most regular-season wins (12) since it went 13-19 in 2012-13

-          Tie Marshall’s road win total from last season (two games)

EDMONDS’ WINNING WAYS
This season, junior Justin Edmonds (Albion, Mich.) is third on the Herd with 9.9 points per game, but when singling out Marshall’s wins in Conference USA play, he leads the team with 15.4 points per game. In Marshall’s victories, he shoots .485 from the field (33-of-68) and .455 from 3-point range (20-of-44). Most recently, he reached a career-high 27 points in the Herd’s 79-63 win against Florida Atlantic (Feb. 28).

LOOP LOOMING ON RECORDS
According to the Marshall record book, sophomore Austin Loop (South Webster, Ohio) is on the cusp of a few Herd milestones. He has made 76 threes this season, which ranks No. 9 all-time for a Marshall player, and his 201 attempts from long range ranks No. 6. Loop leads Conference USA with 2.6 treys made per game.

SCOUTING THE MONARCHS
Old Dominion (22-6, 11-5) enters Thursday’s contest on a four-game win streak, in addition to a 19-game streak at home. The Monarchs are in a race for a first-round bye in the C-USA Tournament, tied for third with UTEP and Western Kentucky. Trey Freeman and Aaron Bacote top the team with 16.8 and 10.9 points per game, respectively. ODU is holding opponents to a league-low 57.0 points per game on 40-percent shooting from the field.

ODU holds a four-game streak in the all-time series while leading the Herd, 4-7. Marshall’s last win against the Monarchs came Nov. 29, 2008 (68-84), and the Herd has never won in Norfolk (0-4). Earlier this season, Marshall dropped a 72-51 decision to No. 25-ranked ODU at Cam Henderson Center (Jan. 8, 2015).
