Mayor Wolfe Presents Plan for Curing Shortfall

HUNTINGTON, WV (HNN) - Mayor Kim Wolfe has presented a plan for coping with the pension fund shortfall and its impact on the general fund. In addition, the city has been fined $156,000 for not complying with the Clean Water Act for failing to implement an MS4 (Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System) program.

In summary: The administration has asked that the user fee be increased from $3 to $5 per week; a $120 per year increase per parcel in the municipal service fee;  that city employees pay an additional $40.00 for health insurance coverage; that currently unfilled positions remain vacant.

The plan has been referred to the Finance Committee which will meet on Wednesday afternoon. A special call council meeting is likely next week.
