Two Arson Suspects Arrested Following Washingtotn Avenue Fire

HUNTINGTON – Two people were arrested Friday afternoon and charged in connection with a fire that destroyed a house in the 700 block of Washington Avenue.

 

Detectives with the Huntington Police Department’s Violent Crime Unit arrested Sharon Skaggs, 40, and Everett Carl Dean, 26, both of Huntington. Both were charged with arson and brandishing. Dean was also arrested on outstanding warrants charging him with forgery in Wayne County.

 

The fire was reported shortly before 7 a.m. Friday. Responding midnight shift patrol officers helped rescue two residents from the upper floor. Five people from two families were left homeless and a number of pets perished.
