HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall men's soccer team earned its second straight win Friday, beating the Duquesne Dukes 1-0 at Rooney Field in Pittsburgh, Pa.

The Thundering Herd moves to 2-1 this season, while Duquesne falls to 1-1. Marshall's 2-1 start to the regular season is the team's best start since 2010.

Neither team was able to develop a strong attack in the first half, with Duquesne registering the only shot on goal with three attempts. Marshall was able to produce only two shots. Duquesne also had three corner kicks, while Marshall had one.

The Herd would get on the board in the 78th minute thanks to junior midfielder/forward Rimario Gordon (Kingston, Jamaica) collected a loose ball roughly eight yards from the Dukes goal and slotted the ball home through the middle of the goal. The strike was Gordon's first career Herd goal. From there, Marshall would hold on to the lead and win.

Herd junior goalkeeper Bijan Gloston (Clarksville, Tenn.) earned his first win of the season, making four saves in 90 minutes for the shutout.

Head coach Bob Gray on the match:

"Good result on the road against a very solid Duquesne side. It took us some time to get going, but I think we were able to get going in the second half and had several good chances including the goal. We'll go from here and play Liberty on the road, then we're thankful to play some games at home."

On Rimario Gordon and select player performances:

"Rimario is going to be an impact player for us and he's going to hopefully get even better as the season goes on. I thought our midfield played well, guys like Christian Kershaw and Ryan Forde. Goalkeeper Bijan Gloston made a great save halfway through that kept us in the game."
