This video provided by Russian Armed forces purportedly showing an air strike an al-Nusra front military position. Al-Nusra is Al-Qaeda in Syria.

The Washington Post wrote that "in conversations last week as Russia’s military buildup in Syria continued, but before its airstrikes began Wednesday, administration officials acknowledged that Russian targeting of Jabhat al-Nusra and other non-Islamic State extremist groups would pose a potential problem for the United States."

The Wall Street Journal quoted Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov that his country's  "position was no different than the coalition’s and purely intended on weakening groups like Islamic State and Jabhat al-Nusra, offshoots of al Qaeda."

So why does the United States need Russia to finish off al-Qaeda? Or does the US /CIA maintain that al-Nustra is no longer an affiliate of the 9/11 terrorist organization?  Does this foreign military exercise more resemble the "Who's on First, What's on Second, and I Don't Know is on Third" skit?
