Wayne Has Incredible First Half

WAYNE,WV  Oct. 28)  Wayne High School won over Chapmanville 52-26 with an amazing first half of football at Pioneer Stadium on Friday night on a cold wet night.  It was senior night at Wayne High School and the Pioneers recognized their five fooball seniors.   In addition seniors from the band, honor guard,  and other fall sports were also recognized.  


Chapmaville ranked in Class AA at eight and Wayne  in the  twelfth  spot, football observers were expecting this to be a good football game.  After Chapmanville stopped Wayne's  first play at the line of scrimmage, Wayne became a power house.    About two minutes later Wayne scored  from that that first possession and never looked back.

The Pioneers offense racked up 46 points and the defense allowed no points in 24 minutes.   The score at the half was Wayne 46 and Chapmanville 0.  One person from Chapmaville jokingly said it looked like the football team missed the bus.   

For Chapmanville that came into the game 7-1 with the only loss to Class AAA ranked Logan by one point, sure did not  resemble that type of  team.  This Friday night almost everything went right for Wayne and not for Chapmanville.    Give  the Pioneers credit for scoring and holding Chapmanville to only five yards rushing in the first half.   

Chapmanville started to come back scoring 14 points early in the third quarter, but it was to late and Wayne coasted to the 52-26 win.

Wayne at 7-2 will finish out the regular season at Bluefield next week.  Chapmanville is also 7-2.
