HUNTINGTON, WV- St. Mary’s Medical Center and HIMG present a multi-media family holiday event, Disney in Concert Presents Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before ChristmasExperience Tim Burton’s iconic full-length feature film, The Nightmare Before Christmas, screened at the Keith-Albee with Danny Elfman’s incredible score performed live by The Huntington Symphony Orchestra and special guests, and conducted by Kimo Furumoto. This once in a lifetime collaboration takes place on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. along with an evening performance at 7:30 p.m. at the Keith-Albee Performing Arts Center.

The Nightmare Before Christmas follows Halloween Town’s Pumpkin King, on his adventure to Christmas Town, as residents are preparing for Christmas. Bored with his role as Halloween Town’s Pumpkin King, Jack Skellington is determined to shake things up and enlists the help of some mischievous trick-or-treaters to kidnap Santa Claus and take over the job of delivering gifts to the children of the world.

Tim Burton, widely regarded as one of the cinema’s most imaginative filmmakers has enjoyed great success in both the live-action and animation arenas. Most recently Burton directed and produced the critically acclaimed “Frankenweenie” which was a 2012 Academy Award® nominee for Best Animated Picture. He’s known for his dark, gothic, and quirky horror and fantasy films. Some of Burton’s hit films including- Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice, Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, and of course, The Nightmare Before Christmas.

The Huntington Symphony Orchestra will be performing Danny Elfman’s incredible score featured in this classic tale. Over the last 30 years, four-time Oscar nominee Danny Elfman has established himself as one of the most versatile and accomplished film composers in the industry. “Having a particular style is not bad,” says Elfman, “but I prefer to push myself in the direction of being a composer who you never know what he’s doing next.” Elfman has composed the score for various movies and shows such as The Simpsons, Batman, Good Will Hunting, and among others, The Nightmare Before Christmas.

A similar event was held at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles this past October. The concerts featured a live orchestral performance to the screening of Tim Burton’s films and Danny Elfman’s music. When the show was announced, tickets for the event sold out in a matter of hours. In response to the demand, a second concert was added to the bowl for the very next night.

The New York Times hails “this event was a substantive, rich and revealing concert. Mr. Elfman’s music and Mr. Burton’s cinematic images are intricately enmeshed.”
