IRVING, Texas- Junior Sarah Vinson and senior Katie Ball of the Marshall University women's soccer team received Conference USA All-Academic honors on Thursday, making them two of just 25 players selected by the conference for the award.

Amelia, Ohio, native Sarah Vinson was voted to the C-USA All-Academic First Team, as she continued her accumulation of a perfect 4.0 GPA throughout the course of the 2011 season. The junior also starred on the field for the Thundering Herd this year, starting in all 19 matches and contributing two goals and one assist. This marks the second straight year that Vinson, a pre-dietetics major, has received C-USA All-Academic First Team honors.

Meanwhile, senior Katie Ball earned a spot on the C-USA All-Academic Second-Team, as the Louisville, Ky., native posted a near-perfect 3.91 GPA in the classroom to go with her one assist on the year. Thursday's award marked the first time that Ball, a political science major and the Herd's starting left-back this season, received a C-USA All-Academic Team honor in her four year tenure.
