HAVE YOU HERD?
Sop Marshall overcame a 23-point deficit and sunk two buzzer-beaters en route to a thrilling 108-106 overtime win to end the regular season against Southern Miss on Saturday, March 5. Sophomore point guard Jon Elmore (Charleston, W.Va.) poured in a career-high 35 points and had the best perfect game of free throws in school history, going 15-of-15 from the line. Forward James Kelly (Ann Arbor, Michigan) produced his 14th double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds on his Senior Night. His five boards made him only the second player in Herd history - joining 1970s star Russell Lee – with 600 points and 300 rebounds in a season. Kelly hit a layup off an inbounds play at the regulation buzzer to force overtime, and junior Austin Loop (South Webster, Ohio) drained a long jumper in the final seconds of overtime for the win.

Senior forward James Kelly (Ann Arbor, Mich.) became Marshall’s first player named to the All-Conference USA first team and the program’s first Newcomer of the Year, announced Monday and Tuesday, respectively. Kelly led the league’s defensive rebounding statistic with 8.1 per game, ranking No. 9 in among Division I men’s basketball players.
