Marshall Kicks Off Season with a 67-49 Victory Over Alabama State

HUNTINGTON, WV (HNN) – Dennis Tinnon scored 10 points and pulled down 14 rebounds leading the Marshall Thundering Herd to a 67-49 victory over the Alabama State Hornets at the Cam Henderson Center.

Tinnon’s 14 boards helped the Herd to a 40-27 rebounding advantage over the Hornets.

Marshall dominated offensively in the paint, outscoring Alabama State 40-14. They struggled from the three point line connecting on only 3-of-17 attempts for 17.6%.

The Herd opened a 34-24 halftime lead as they limited the Hornets to 9 made baskets on 23 attempts. They led by 8 points at 49-41 with 6:25 to go but outscored the Hornets 18-8 over the remainder of the half to provide the winning margin.

DeAndre Kane and Robert Goff scored 13 points apiece to lead the Herd in scoring.
