Marshall is now 5-16 overall and 1-7 in Conference USA play. East Carolina improved to 10-11 and 4-4 in Conference USA.
For about the first five minutes of the game Marshall stayed close to East Carolina with a 7-6 lead. East Carolina then took an 8-7 lead and never looked back hitting 9 of 19 three pointers for 47.4% and 24 of 49 field goals for 49%.
Marshall was 2 of 10 from the three point line for 20% and 16 of 47 on field goals for 34%. Marshal is currently in last place in Conference USA.
Marshall has had problems with injuries to key players forcing younger players to move up that do not have a lot of playing experience.
A frustrated Marshall Head Coach Royce Chadwick said, "I have coached for a long time, but have never had a season like this one."
Coach Chadwick noted the team always feels like they can win the game and will continue with that feeling for the rest of the season.
Marshall has away games with Southern Miss (Feb. 6) and SMU (Feb. 10) before returning to play UCF at home (Feb. 13) at 2 PM.
The UCF Sunday game is Jam the Cam where Marshall fans hopefully will come out in abundance to support and cheer for the Herd. Special promotions and chances to win prizes are associated with the game.
The first 100 Marshall students coming through the doors will receive $5.00 at Jam the Cam.
