CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Acting Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin today issued the following comment on the West Virginia State Legislature coming to a quick resolution on the new election for 2011.

.

“On behalf of the citizens of West Virginia, I want to commend the Legislature for coming to such a speedy resolution regarding the dates for the primary and the new election for this year,” Governor Tomblin said. “As I have said on previous occasions, I was confident that both houses would work together to come to an acceptable timeline that allows all the citizens of our great state the opportunity to select a nominee of their choice in a primary election as well as the chance to vote for their candidate in the new election.”

The State Senate and the House of Delegates passed legislation confirming the dates of May 14, 2011 for the primary election and October 4, 2011 for the new election. The bill now advances to the Acting Governor’s desk for signature.
