HUNTINGTON, WV Head coach Royce Chadwick and his staff have announced the addition of Norrisha Victrum to the 2012-13 class of newcomers. Victrum is the third student-athlete to sign a national letter of intent for the Marshall women’s basketball program for the 2012-13 season.

Victrum is a point guard from Columbia, South Carolina, where she plays basketball for the Columbia High School women’s basketball program. She was recently recognized as one of the top-five female basketball players in the state of South Carolina for the 2011-12 season and as a junior averaged 16 points, seven assists, and five steals per game. Victrum was also selected to the All-State Class 2A team this past year, and for the last two years has been honored as an All-Region Class 2A selection. As a junior, she was selected as the Best Defensive Player in South Carolina’s Class 2A. During her high school career, Victrum also played AAU basketball for the South Carolina 76ers under the direction of Roger Wiley.

“Norrisha is an outstanding leader,” commented Chadwick on the newcomer. “We have a definite need to bring in a point guard with leadership capabilities. She has the complete package and is the kind of girl that when she is on the floor, she makes everybody better. Norrisha has a great shooting touch and brings a floor leadership that we will be graduating when we lose our two senior point guards. We are very excited about what she will add to our program.”

The eligibility of all student-athletes is contingent upon admission to Marshall University and compliance with all NCAA rules, including registration with the NCAA Eligibility Center.
