DEVOTION: Blind Preparation

DEVOTION: Blind Preparation
The Advent season reminds us to prepare for finding the "babe in a manger".  The material world sends out endless ads and catalogues... coupons and enticing "deals" for our preparation to celebrate God's gift of love and servanthood.
Wait!  what did I say?  The "coming" of God's Spirit is unconditional love and sacrifice.      How blinded we can be to God's truth in this day and age of immediate visual contact with the world of materialism and instant gratification.     How often to we stop and meditate... listen to our heartbeat and God's whisper of truth.     When have we touched and felt the people and places surrounding us... or imagined the beauty of creation from the depth of our being.       "Be generous with me and I'll live a full life; not for a minute will I take my eyes off your road. Open my eyes so I can see what you show me of your miracle-wonders. I'm a stranger in these parts; give me clear directions.  My soul is starved and hungry, ravenous!— insatiable for your nourishing commands." O God, forgive us when we are blinded to your love and truth... to the beauty of your purpose and meaning for our lives... one day at a time.  In our Advent preparation, help us touch and feel the wonder of your presence... the purpose for our day... the picture of love you are painting for the world to see.  Move in us and around us and through us... even in our blind preparation.
