Marshall Loses 64-48 to UAB; "This is not Acceptable" - Herrion
Marshall was looking lackluster after winning over Memphis 85-70 at the last home game. It was big disappointment to the Marshall fans that were in the the attendance of 5,176.
UAB was leading 35-27 at the intermission. Marshall closed the gap to within six points 37-31 early in the second period. UAB from that point kept building on that lead expanding it to as much as 22 points late (64-42) in the game with 3:59 left.
First year Marshall head basketball Coach Tom Herrion calling it the worst game under his watch this year said, "This is not the way we play. This is not acceptable for a Marshall team."
Coach Herrion has three days to get things turned around when Marshall travels to East Carolina for a 5 PM basketball game this Saturday (Feb. 12).
UAB 17-6 overall and 7-3 in the Conference USA joins the Conference USA leaders Southern Miss 7-3 and 18-5 overall and UTEP 6-2 also 18-5 overall.
Marshall 3-6 in Conference USA and 15-9 overall is in a race with 3-6 Conference USA teams Houston and Rice. Tulane 2-7 and UCF 1-7 are currently at the bottom of Conference USA.
Tulsa is 6-3 in Conference USA in second place followed by 5-3 teams Memphis, SMU and East Carolina.
With that kind of scramble a lot of things could and will happen down the last month of the basketball season in Conference USA.
