Afrocentric jumped out with an early 23-13 lead in the first period that seemed to set the tone for the rest of the game. St. Joe matched up well in the next three periods, but could not over come that early lead.
St. Joe the West Virginia Class A three times in a row girl's state champion found their match in Afrocentric. Afrocentric had size, good shooters and an aggressive defense that caused problems for St. Joe. Afrocentric would likely match up well with any girl's basketball team in West Virginia.
