Huntington Parolee Sentenced for Firearms Possession

A Huntington  man will return to prison, this time for a gun crime.

U.S. District Judge Robert C. 'Chuck" Chambers sentenced Zachary Whitmore to 24 months in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm.  Upon completion of his sentence, Whitmore will serve an additional three years of supervised release  

Whitmore,28,  previously admitted on November 1, 2018, he was stopped by a state Trooper assisting the West Virginia Division of Corrections attempting to locate him. In the course of the stop, officers found a .22 Magnum American Arms Revolver in Whitmore's pocket. 

Due to a 2015 felony conviction in Cabell County, Whitmore was prohibited from possessing a firearm.
