Marshall Women Down Southern Miss 55-44

HUNTINGTON, WV (HNN) – The Marshall Thundering Herd women’s basketball team won their third straight conference game with a 55-44 victory over the Southern Miss Golden Eagles at the Cam Henderson Center.

With the win, Marshall improves to 12-3 (3-0 C-USA) while Southern Miss falls to 6-10 (0-3 C-USA).

The Golden Eagles outshot the Herd 41.7% - 30.8% and outrebounded them 18-16 in the first half as they built a 25-21 halftime lead.

In the second half, Marshall connected on 10-of-23 (43.5%) shots as the Southern Miss connected on just 7-of-29 (24.1%) shots.

The Herd turned 16 Golden Eagles turnovers into 19 points while Southern Miss managed 3 points on 14 Marshall turnovers.

The Herd bench outscored the Golden Eagle bench 28-7.

Marshall was led in scoring by Lateidra Elliot who scored 13 points.
