Huntington, WV - Alvin Bowyer, a new face in politics, is publicly announcing his candidacy for the position of Cabell County Assessor. " I have knowledge and extensive experience that I would like to offer to the residents of Cabell County. "

He is a lifelong resident of Huntington WV,  and a graduate from Marshall University.  Currently,  a full time Realtor with Century 21 Homes and Land of Barboursville. He also have 26 years experience as owner and President/Treasurer of AB Ministorage, Inc. , a self service storage facility in Milton.

"I help people every day with their real estate needs, which includes establishing fair market values both on homes they are selling  and homes being purchased.  Part of this involves looking at not only their home, but also the neighborhood.  If a home is mispriced, it can have a negative effect on my client."

Prior to this, he was employed as the Director of Finance for the Big Sandy Superstore Arena for 16 years. During this time,  he was responsible for tracking and reporting the facility operating budget, and event budgets for  each event. He reported to the City of Huntington and private management companies employed by the City to operate the facility. Also, he supervised the Human Relations and Ticket Office for the Arena." During my tenure, I implemented the transition from paper financial record keeping to computerization and  strategies to improve efficiency and security in cash handling procedures.  I worked with several governmental entities, including the county, state, and Federal  to see that our facility was in compliance with all laws, requirements, and licensing. "

"My tag-line is "A View and A Vision, not a career Politician!"  I have fresh ideas and seek to provide  quality services for our citizens.  My vision is to work to make sure property values are fair and equally assessed for the citizens of the Cabell County.  To accomplish this, I would  work together with the Sheriff and State Tax Commissioner to enforce Out-Of-State violations of our laws so that our tax payers do not bear the burden of those attempting to avoid the law and coordinate with various agencies to see that inactive properties can be put back on the tax rolls. As Cabell County Assessor, I would work to ensure that our office has the latest in cutting edge technology and service in a more user friendly environment  for citizens with any questions regarding assessment issues."
