Herd Closes Regular Season at UCF on Thursday

HUNTINGTON, WV  – Marshall women’s basketball will travel to Orlando, Fla. to face UCF in the final regular season game of the season.The Thundering Herd tips off against the Knights on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. ET.


Marshall enters the game with a 15-13 (6-9 C-USA) record after most recently taking a 63-62 loss to East Carolina in the final home contest of the season. The game was the first overtime finish of the year for the Herd.


Lateidra Elliott led the team against ECU with 14 points. She went 4-for-7 from the field, made six free throws, and nailed the buzzer-beater shot at the end of regulation to send the game into overtime. The senior guard leads the team off the bench with 7.3 points per game after shooting over 40.0 percent from the field for the season.


Sophomore forward Erica Woods follows with 6.6 points per game and is the Herd’s leader on the glass, grabbing 6.3 boards per game. She also has one of the highest shooting percentages for the year, making 69-of-163 for the season for a 42.3 percent mark.


UCF combines for a 12-15 (7-8 C-USA) record after most recently losing to Houston and East Carolina this past week. The Knights are on a three-game losing streak after knocking off top C-USA competition Memphis on Feb. 19.


The Knights are led by Aisha Patrick with 13.8 points per game. The senior guard posts a team-high 59 steals and records 8.6 rebounds per game. Junior guard Gevenia Carter follows with 11.7 points and has earned a team-high 73 assists. Kayli Keough rounds up the effort as the final player with a double-digit average, marking 10.1 points per game. She is shooting over 40.0 percent from the field and has a team-high 17 blocks.
