HUNTINGTON, WV -- The Marshall baseball team will travel to Winston-Salem, N.C. for games against Eastern Michigan and Wake Forest this weekend.

The Thundering Herd will play Eastern Michigan on Friday (12 p.m.) and Saturday (12 p.m.) before taking on Wake Forest on Saturday (4 p.m.) and Sunday (4 p.m.).  All four games will be played on Gene Hooks Field at the Wake Forest Baseball Park.

Marshall (3-4) is coming off a series split at Charleston Southern at the end of last week where it finished with an impressive 8-2 win on Sunday.  Junior first baseman Nathan Gomez went 3-for-3 with four RBIs in that contest, and his sixth-inning, two-RBI double helped put the game out of reach.  Gomez has four doubles already this year which has him in a three-way tie for the Conference-USA lead.

Junior centerfielder Isaac Ballou leads the Herd in hitting with a .414 average.  Despite seeing a 10-game hitting streak come to an end on Sunday, Ballou has 12 hits in seven games this season, just two off the conference lead.  The Smithville, Va. native also ranks as one of the best in C-USA in batting average, slugging percentage (.621), on-base percentage (.500), and numerous others.

The Herd is led on the mound by senior Mike Mason.  The left-hander is yet to give up a run and has struck out 13 hitters in 12 innings pitched.  He and only three other pitchers in the conference still hold a perfect earned run average.

Marshall’s weekend schedule will pit the Herd against the 2-5 Eastern Michigan Eagles first.  The Eagles lost five of their first six before defeating North Carolina Central 8-4 earlier this week.

After EMU, the Herd will face the 5-4 Demon Deacons who currently ride a four-game winning streak.

Live chats, Gametracker, and Twitter updates will all be available online.  Additionally, live video will be streamed online for each of Wake Forest’s games.
