Branches Celebrates Poetry Month at Blackhawk

Edited from a Press Release
Branches Domestic Violence Shelter will celebrate national poetry month by raising awareness of domestic violence with the first-ever Verses From Adversity spoken word event on Monday, April 16. The 2 hour long event will begin at 10 p.m. at Black Sheep Burritos & Brews in Huntington.

This event will serve to raise awareness for the increasingly dangerous problem of domestic violence as well as highlight the continual struggle of the human experience through the creative outlet of poetry, verse, and song. Both original work and selected readings are encouraged. Performers may sign up via
e-mail at Blevins@Branchesdvs.org or at the door beginning at 9:30pm. While adversity is the theme of the night, selections need not be limited to this topic. We invite everyone to join us as we acknowledge the victims and celebrate the survivors on this very special evening.

Funds will be raised through a $3 admission and will directly support Branches Domestic Violence Shelter and outreach programs.
