AQUAFINA MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL PITCH, HIT & RUN COMPETITION COMES TO THE

HUNTINGTON, WV (HNN) - West Virginia District One Little League will host the Aquafina Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run Competition for no charge to youth aged 7 to 14, Sunday, April 3rd, beginning at 1:30pm.

The competition will be held at Vinson Little League located near 2699 Park Avenue off Madison Avenue in the west end of Huntington.

Pitch, Hit & Run is the Official Skills Competition of Major League Baseball. This grassroots program is designed to provide youngsters with an opportunity to compete; free of charge, in a competition that recognizes individual excellence in core baseball/softball skills.

Competitors are divided into four age divisions: 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14, and have the chance to advance through four levels of competition, including Team Championships at Major League ballparks and the National Finals at the 2011 MLB All-Star Game. Age is determined as of July 17, 2011.

The individual Pitching, Hitting and Running Champions, along with the All-Around Champion in each age group at the Local Competition will be awarded and advance to the Sectional level of competition.

All participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate or baptismal record and fill out a registration/waiver form prior to the start of the competition. Registration/waiver forms are available to be picked up in advance from the Marshall Recreation Center, located at 402 Thundering Herd Drive in Huntington. The forms are also available on WV District One’s website at www.eteamz.com/wvdistrict1. Forms can be printed and brought to
the competition site. On-site registration is also available.

Participants are not permitted to wear metal spikes during the competition. A full set of rules and additional information can be found online on the MLB Pitch, Hit & Run website at www.mlb.com/phr.
