(WAYNE, WV)  Wayne played host to three softball games on Thursday afternoon with Spring Valley and Pikeview High School from Mercer County participating.  Pikeview located near Athens, West Virginia made it a Wayne County tour during their spring break.  On Wednesday Pikeview played Tolsia and won 10-0 and spent the night. 

On Thursday Pikeview met Wayne at 2 PM.  Wayne won that game 8-0.   In the second game Pikeview played Spring Valley  with Spring Valley winning 7-2.  The Wayne County softball game  that many were looking forward to was the third game when Wayne and Spring Valley played.


The third game went the way of the Pioneers with strong hitting and defense that was over in 2 1/2 innings.    Wayne scored 11 runs and shut out Spring Valley 11-0 under the new  mercy rule. Spring Valley was hoping  to score at least a couple of runs in the top of the third to keep the keep going longer.   The Wayne defense  stopped that from happening.  

After the three softball games   were played on Thursday Wayne had one two games,  Spring Valley one and Pikeville zero.
