Brooksfield, Ohio, (HNN)  – Stephen Pernotto has been named President and CEO of the Linens & More For Less! retailing chain headquartered in Brookfield, it was announced today.

Pernotto, who was most recently executive vice president of human resources for Belk, Inc., will succeed Frederick J. Mershad, who assumes the position of chairman.

Pernotto holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Youngstown State University.  He began his retailing career with Strouss Department Stores, a division of the May Company, and was senior vice president at Rich’s Department Store in Atlanta before assuming the position at Belk.

He was responsible for leading strategic planning at Belk during his career and the consolidation of Belk’s operating divisions into a central organization; in his 15 years there, the company achieved record sales, profits and return on capital.

A Marine Corps veteran, he is active in children’s advocacy charities and organizations.  He and his wife, Donna, are the parents of two children.

Mershad said in making the announcement that “Steve’s appointment is the most logical move forward for Linens & More For Less! at this time.  Our growth plans are right on schedule, and Steve has great strength in guiding the growth of expanding companies.”

Linens & More For Less! was organized in 2010.  The company has six stores in the  central Atlantic region, including its flagship store in the Eastwood Mall Complex in Howland, Ohio, and will announce the opening of two more in the near future. One of its stores is at the Huntington Mall.  Projections are for 50 stores within the next several years.
