Interactive EPA Rad Net Allows Near Real Time Radiation Samples, Including Charleston, WV

CHARLESTON, WV (HNN) –

Although in service for awhile, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has a near “real time” network for radiation sampling located in a variety of cities across the United States. One of those is Charleston, WV.

The system has been developed for use by scientists, but it has been receiving interest from individuals desiring to educate and inform themselves about possible fallout from the crippled Japanese nuclear reactors.

Officially, EPA has declared radiation levels across the country as far below levels of concern; however, other experts have offered interpretations that , for instance, the data interpretation reveals in one case the normal exposure for a year

Japan recently acknowledged  that it did not release all the radiation it had it had on the first days following the earthquake.  That lead to  expert surfing leads and interpretation variance.

Still, the internet encourages interactivity and education.
