Men’s Soccer Unveils 2012 Schedule
HUNTINGTON ,  WV - The Marshall University men’s soccer team unveiled its 2012 schedule on Monday, establishing a list of fixtures that includes four home Conference USA matches and nine matches against opponents with winning records in 2011.

With the demolition of the Veterans Memorial Fieldhouse underway, construction on the Thundering Herd’s state-of-the-art soccer complex is set to begin as early as August. However, with the project not predicted to reach completion before the end of the season, Marshall will split the hosting of its home matches between nearby Hurricane High School and the Fields at Trace Fork in Charleston .

Following exhibition matches against Rio Grande and Pittsburgh on April 15th and 18th, Marshall will kick-off its season against  Wright State in  Charleston , W.Va. , on August 24th at 7:00 p.m. The Herd will then move into September with road trips to Bowling Green and IPFW on September 1st and 3rd.

Marshall will then divide the remainder of its non-conference schedule with trips to Lexington , Va. , and Radford , Va. , where the squad will face Liberty , VMI, UNC Asheville, and Radford in the span of a week.

The Herd will kick-off C-USA play when it travels to  Memphis on September 26th to take on the Tigers at 7:00 p.m., before making an even longer trip to face Tulsa in Oklahoma at 7:00 p.m. some three days later.

Matches against Asbury and Evansville on October 3rd and 6th are the only interruptions as Marshall finishes out its C-USA slate and the regular season with six-straight games against South Carolina on October 13th, Kentucky on October 17th, UAB on October 20th, FIU on October 23rd, SMU on October 28th, and UCF on November 3rd. The games against South Carolina , Kentucky , FIU, and UCF will all be played at Hurricane  High School and will all begin at 7:00 p.m.

“It’s unfortunate we will have to play this season’s home games outside of Huntington on unfamiliar fields,” said head coach Bob Gray, “but we feel really good about the team we have returning this year and with the addition of some quality newcomers we have every reason to be excited about the season ahead.”
