Marshall Whips Western Carolina 52-24

The Herd was led by quarterback Rakeem Cato who was 32-of-42 passing for 377 yards and three touchdowns.
Cato’s favorite targets were receivers Aaron Dobson and Antavios Wilson. Dobson hauled in 9 passes for 81 yards while Wilson caught 6 for 98 yards.
After taking a 3-0 first quarter lead, Cato threw all of his three touchdown passes in the second quarter. First he hit gator Hoskins on a 1 yard TD pass, then it was Aaron Dobson on a 2 yard hook-up, finally he connected with Demetrius Evans on a 12 yarder that gave Marshall a 24-3 halftime lead.
The Herd scored three more times in the third quarter with a pair of rushing touchdowns and an interception returned for a score. First it was Steward Butler on an 8 yard TD run then it was a 3 yarder by Remi Watson. Devon Arrington returned an interception of former Marshall quarterback Eddie Sullivan for 18 yards.
Marshall final score of the game came in the fourth when backup quarterback Blake Fronapfel hit his brother Eric on a 29 yard touchdown pass.
