DEVOTION: Godly Acts

DEVOTION: Godly Acts
Just waking up each day is an act of courage.  Right away we begin our deeds... our conduct. In the smallest detail or in our most calculated diligence, we become agents of faith. What we believe is operational in what we do... in every breath of life. God's Spirit lives and moves within us ... through us... and around us.
"Dear friends, do you think you'll get anywhere in this if you learn all the right words but never do anything? Does merely talking about faith indicate that a person really has it? Isn't it obvious that God-talk without God-acts is outrageous nonsense?"

O God we forget that your Spirit is at work in the world in steadfast fidelity... ever moving toward the redemption of all the earth.  Created and made for this purpose, we want to be faithful to our calling.  Help us, O God, to see...to believe.. to know that Your love and grace provides us with spirited hope and healing with the dawning of every new day.  When there is pain and suffering, you comfort our bodies and help us keep going even when it seems to be a never ending uphill climb.  When there is grief and challenge, you tell us stories through the lives of others that inspire and teach us ways to conquer our fear and enable empowering love.  When all is well ... you remind us that we are blessed to become a blessing and offer astonishing opportunity for us to experience compassion translated into action.  Forgive us when we only talk about our faith and move us to become the hope of the world ... even if it is only within the bounds of our limited vigor. Fill us with agape love so even the first ray of  this new morning radiates in Godly acts.
