Former Wayne Football Coach Stabbed to Death; Former Player Charged with Murder
One of his former players has been placed under arrest in Jarrell’s murder. The West Virginia State Police have charged 42-year-old Huntington resident Clinton Douglas Skeens with the retired coach’s murder.
According to a news release, state police were called to a house on Wilson Creek in Wayne County sometime after ten o’clock Friday night, Dec. 31. The release stated that Jarrell apparently died from the stabbing.
Jarrell coached the Wayne High School Pioneers from 1966 to 1985 and also served as a guidance counselor.
No motive has been alleged in the case.
Multiple law enforcement agencies cooperated in the investigation including the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, Huntington Police Department , Cabell and Wayne County Prosecuting Attorneys and the West Virginia State Police.
