Updated 7 years ago From a Rep. Nick Rahall Release
BECKLEY, W.Va. – U.S. Rep. Nick J. Rahall (D-W.Va.), top Democrat on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee with jurisdiction over FEMA emergency response programs, Tuesday issued the following statement about the State of Emergency in West Virginia:

“The effects of this storm are enormous and widespread, severely disrupting the lives of households with power outages and treacherous conditions.  I am tremendously grateful to our West Virginia National Guard and state and local emergency responders for their tireless efforts in protecting our State's residents and businesses.

"I have been in regular contact with Federal, state, and county emergency response officials, supporting the Federal emergency declaration that was issued early this morning and offering my assistance to secure Federal resources to help in recovering from the storm."
