Blaze Damages Eighth Street Apartment Complex

Fire has severely damaged LaSalle Apartments, six unit apartment building, at 1024 Eighth Street. Firefighters received a dispatch at about 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28.

A maintenance worker reported smelling smoke in the basement. The fire spread through a pipe causing fire damage on the left side of the three story LaSalle Apartments and smoke damage on the right side.

At the height of the fire Eighth Street had to be closed. All available Huntington firefighters were sent to the apartment. Two volunteer units were placed on standby.
