DEVOTION Seeing Goodness

by Beth Bondurant

Having a full dry day to get a project going is such a blessing and provides an opportunity for actually seeing goodness and mercy flow in measurable deeds.

At work camp, holes were dug...ditches were finished... roofs were repaired... the beginnings of many outside jobs were started and some even completed as the rains subsided.

The sightless children who needed a safe place to walk... others hoping for dry ceilings and safe floors... could feel God's goodness and mercy through the hands and feet of those sharing themselves and their strength on various crews in numerous areas.

"We are intimately linked in this harvest work. This is a large work I've called you into, but don't be overwhelmed by it. It's best to start small. Give a cool cup of water to someone who is thirsty, for instance. The smallest act of giving or receiving makes you a true apprentice."

Goodness flows constantly as God's love is unconditional and eternal.

O God... open my eyes to see the goodness that comes with every breath.  Forgive my blindness to the presence and power of your redeeming love.  Empower my choices to ask and receive the nourishment and wisdom you provide in daily opportunities to reach out and touch your face in the people and places around me.  Forgive me when I allow guilt and resentment to block out your healing Spirit that blows in the winds of goodness.  Thank you for each new day... for the fresh start of endless potential... as your love and mercy stirs our heart, mind, body and spirit into seeing goodness.
