Two of the films which assisted in attaining the film making image for Huntington, WV came in 2004 and 2006. "Burning Annie," an independent romance comedy, shot on the Marshall campus.
The next year, Warner Bros arrived for a three week location shoot of "We Are Marshall," which allowed WV to capitalize on a missed opportunity by adding a tax incentive for filmmaking in the state. These are some on set photos from these productions.
The term Hollerwood® was coined during the filming of "We Are Marshall" when Joe Murphy , a local filmmaker stated to director McG that "You have turned our quaint little town into Hollerwood!!! Sweet!" Since then it has slowly began working itself into the local vernacular.
NOTE: Hollerwood is a TM of Joe Murphy/Trifecta Productions, registered 2007.
