WASHINGTON, DC – In his Capitol Hill office, U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall (D-W.Va.) Wednesday met with representatives of the Professional Firefighters of West Virginia to thank firefighters for their service to their fellow West Virginians and express his continuing support for Federal grants important to local emergency responders.

“West Virginians know we can count on our local firefighters finest moments during our worst ones.  Incredibly dedicated to our neighbors and communities, our firefighters are willing to risk life or limb. We need to match that local commitment at the federal level with a sound investment of taxpayers’ dollars,” said Rahall, who has been an active and vocal advocate of Federal grant funding for firefighters. “In this era of fiscal austerity, we must maintain a strong emergency response network, which not only bolsters our country’s security, but strengthens our economy so we can compete in the global marketplace.”
