Marshall Soccer Rewarded for Defense
Part of the reason the Thundering Herd went 11-5-1 this past fall was due to its great defensive play. No team in the country had a better save percentage than Marshall which ranked first with a save percentage of 0.898. The man in goal for most of those saves was Daniel Withrow who finished the season first in the NCAA with a save percentage of 0.895.
This week, Marshall received two plaques from the NCAA to show off its accomplishments.
In addition to those nation-leading marks, the Herd ranked third in shutout percentage (0.59) and team goals against average (0.52). Withrow also ranked third in goals against average (0.524).
