Brown Named Running Backs Coach at Marshall
Brown comes to Marshall after one season as the running backs coach at Chattanooga. He helped the Mocs to a winning season at 6-5, a mark that included overtime losses to nationally-ranked teams Georgia Southern and Wofford.
“Thomas is an excellent addition to our staff,” Holliday said. “He has competed at the highest level of our sport and has a tremendous reputation in Atlanta with players and coaches alike. We are pleased to welcome Thomas and his family to our program.”
Before going to Chattanooga, Brown spent one year (2011) working with the football program at Georgia on the strength and conditioning staff.
“I’m very excited to have this opportunity to join the staff here at Marshall,” said Brown. “I am looking forward to working with some talented student-athletes and becoming a member of the Marshall community.”
Brown was a prep standout in the Atlanta area at Tucker High School before going on to an all-star career at Georgia, where he was a four-year starter and a member of the Bulldogs’ 2005 Southeastern Conference championship squad. After finishing his career as the fifth-leading rusher in Georgia history, he was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the sixth round of the 2008 NFL Draft. He then spent the 2009 season with the Cleveland Browns.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in speech communication from Georgia.
Brown and his wife, Jessica, have two children, Orlando and Tyson.
