State Film Office announces open registration for online Production Services Directory

Edited from a Press Release

Charleston, W.Va. — The West Virginia Film Office is excited to announce a new superior online tool that will enable the state's film industry workforce and support service companies to showcase their skills and services to producers considering filming in the state. And now is the time to take advantage of the open registration and get signed up.

"We are proud to unveil this new online version of the Production Services Directory and are confident users will be impressed with its functionality," said Pam Haynes, director of the state film office. "It allows workforce and vendors to control their own listings with an easy-to-use interface and to modify them at any time." Importantly, Haynes notes, this version allows a user to upload resumes and company brochures.

Haynes says that nearly every film office in the world maintains some form of production directory, which acts as a comprehensive resource guide for the film industry when shooting on location. She added that you must be a current West Virginia resident or business to be listed.

"The deadline to get listed during the initial upload is Aug. 26," Haynes said. "We intend to go live on Sept. 1, and once that occurs, new listings or modifications may be then made around the clock." The address to register is www.wvfilm.com/NEWPSD.

If you're wondering who should be listed in the directory, Chris Kittinger, the film office's industry relations coordinator, says the list is long. "Some of the more obvious listing categories are production companies and skilled labor positions, but," he said, "just as important are support service companies, such as, lodging facilities, caterers, entertainment and intellectual property attorneys, tax credit brokers, recording studios, talent agencies, motor home rentals, truck and car rentals, aerial filming services, transportation and heavy equipment rentals, construction and lumber companies, landscaping companies, dry cleaning facilities, sanitation services, office furniture rentals, wardrobe-costume-prop rental companies, telecommunications firms, warehouse space rentals, security firms, and much more."

Kittinger will be contacting the state's chambers of commerce, visitors bureaus, and economic development councils to obtain membership rosters to help ensure no business is overlooked that should be represented in the on-line directory.

The West Virginia Film Office is a section of the West Virginia Division of Tourism, an agency under the West Virginia Department of Commerce. For more information, visit www.wvfilm.com or call 866-698-3456.
