The Highlanders Girls and Boys’ soccer teams proudly announce their players and first games

Girls’ team:

Seniors:  Katie Burgess, Alexis Maynard, Brittany Newsome

 

Juniors:  Kelsie Burns, Maggie Capehart, Anna Dillard, Sydney Jacobson, Leah Levy, Braddick Price, Summer Wheatley

 

Sophomores:  Sydney Bowman, Blue Cremeans, Morgan Henlsey, Allie Hildebrand, Alex Hurley, Megan Keith, Hannah Minihan, Stephanie Yuhasz, Hannah Woods

 

Freshmen:  Britney Burrows, Sarah Keith, Macie McCallister, Megan McCallister, Kylie Magner, Diana Neacsu, Mazie Plumley, Marleigh Ross, Brianna VanMatre

Girls’ coaches:

Nicolette Keevy Bell, head coach and Kenny Rivas, assistant coach

Their first game will be an away game which will be held on August 20 against George Washington  at  11am for the JV team and at 1pm for the Varsity team.  Their first home game will be on August 27th vs. Nitro at 11 a.m.

 

Boys’ team:

Seniors:  Anthony Brunetti, Trey Chambers, Chance Donahoe, Matthew Duncan, Sam Miller, Ben Mitchell, Matt Schaffer

Juniors:  Ben Aulick, Andrew Ching, Luke Cooley, Nathan DeMoss, Ben Jones, Jameson McCarthy, Loy McGuire, Kyle Miller, Matthew Miller, Hunter Smith, Evan Vega, Tanner Way

Sophomores:  Riley Imlay, John Minihan, Austin Preece, Maximilian Simpson, Zach Stevens

Freshmen:  Jack Brunetti, Devin Goodson, Kayden Johnson, Colin Spangler

Boys’ coaches:  Sammy Boateng, head coach, Matt Adkins, assistant coach, volunteer coaches:  Abe Saad and Ben Allen

 

Their first game will be an away game held on August 19 against Russell High School at 7 p.m. for the Varsity team.  The first home game will be held on August 20th vs Lexington Catholic.  Game times will be at 10:00 for JV and 12:00 for Varsity

 

There are three sets of twins on the Highlander teams:  Kyle and Matt Miller, John and Hannah Minnihan and Macie and Megan McCallister.  Katie Burgess has verbally committed to be a scholarship player for Division I Temple University, Atlantic 10 Conference. Giancarlo Dalmazzo Caceres is an AFS exchange student from Chile who is a member of the boys team.

 

The teams have been holding two a day practices and are playing scrimmages this week.  The players are anxious to get on the pitch for their first games, said head coaches Nicky Bell and Sammy Boateng.  Scotland Yard, the Highlanders home field has been completely reseeded and is in excellent shape.  Thanks to the parents who have maintained the field throughout the past year.
