Candlelight Vigil for Emmons Junior Victims Contemplated

A Salvation Army volunteer plans a candlelight vigil on Tuesday January 14 for victims of the Emmons Junior fire tragedy. The January 13, 2007 fire took the lives of nine people and nearly cost the lives of two firefighters. Three of the young people killed were Ben Lucas, 19; Angel Lucas, 17; and Quentin Lucas, 14. Current fire chief, Carl Eastham, nearly lost his life and his melted helmet demonstrates the heat endured.

Misty Muncy is in charge of organizing the memorial. She would like members of Huntington City Council and community members to attend. She can be reached at 304-840-9864.
