Delays and Cold Start Weekend Leading to Arctic Invasion

by Tony Rutherford HuntingtonNews.Net Reporter

Blizzard like weather batters the North-East, but Huntington and Charleston had a slippery Thursday evening January 3. Ice affected roads and highways. One result was in a multiple car pile up on Norway Avenue near Spring Hill Cemetery about 7:40 p.m.  Huntington Police temporarily closed the road which has since reopened. No injuries were reported. Salt and ice trucks hit the street in preparation at about 6 p.m.

Many area schools are closed or on delays and temperatures Friday will top out at about 20 degrees, meaning some snowy areas could remain hazardous.

Saturday and Sunday bring warm ups into the 40s, but arctic air will dominate the the coming work week with highs in the teens and below zero lows.
