The SMG Managed Big Sandy Superstore Arena is known for bringing in country music award winners like Miranda Lambert, Florida Georgia Line, Eric Church and the Zac Brown Band.  Today, the Arena’s hard work paid off as they are now also nominated for an Academy of Country Music award in the “Venue of the Year” category.

“This is quite a thrill and honor for our City, for SMG, for our employees and for this venue” says Brian Sipe, General Manager of the SMG Managed Big Sandy Superstore Arena!  “To be in the same category as places like the historic Grand Ole Opry House and the Red Rocks Amphitheatre is an amazing honor that we are so very proud of.  Thank you to the fans who purchase tickets, the promoters who bring shows here and for the support the City gives to this venue!”

In recent years, the SMG Managed venue has also been recognized by Venues Today Magazine and Billboard Magazine with national rankings.  In addition, General Manager Brian Sipe has received the “Venues Today Generation Next Award” and the “West Virginia State Journal 40 Under 40 Award”.   “We are thankful that the City of Huntington has trusted in the SMG Management of this venue and we are very excited for the next ten years!  We just announced two major concerts featuring Hunter Hayes on March 21st and Alice in Chains on May 16th and we have many more on the way for the spring and summer”, says Sipe.

The 49th ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS (ACM) is dedicated to honoring and showcasing the biggest names and emerging talent in the country music industry.  The show is produced for television by Dick Clark productions and will be broadcast LIVE from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas Sunday, April 6, 2014 at 8:00 PM live ET/delayed PT on the CBS Television Network.  The off-camera awards will be presented during the 8th Annual ACM Honors event on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 in Nashville
