WV Attorney General Patrick Morrisey Comment on audit of the Department of Agriculture that was released to the Legislature

Updated 37 weeks ago From a News Release by WV Attorney General Patrick Morrisey
“Today’s news about additional potential acts of waste and abuse within the Department of Agriculture highlights the need for more regular detailed audits and performance reviews of all agencies, departments and offices within the state. West Virginians should not learn about mismanagement after an elected leader has left office, nor should audits only happen when a new leader is elected and requests a complete review of agency operations. Audits, while time consuming, help to serve as a check and balance on those in power and help to keep public servants honest. I hope all legislators will sign on and support bills that call for regular audits of all state-funded entities every two, and no later than every four years. This is no-brainer legislation.”
