DEVOTION: Knowing & Understanding

DEVOTION: Knowing & Understanding

Over 20 years now I have been privileged to own a computer.  With each successive year, my computer has filled up with information, pictures, memories, programs and projects until regular reminders announce that usage of my computer is at a high level of retrospection.

Even with experience and commitment, this amazing technology is still a deep mystery and my potential for a computer crash always hangs too close for comfort.

Who do people say the Son of Man is?” They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”

Like the disciples, I am so inept in my knowing and understanding the God of all creation.

For billions of years the universe has evolved .... changed... adapted... with the recreation and restoration provided only by the Master Designer.

How is it that I could ever claim knowledge and understanding of something so awesome.

O God, forgive me.  My feeble efforts to express something so far beyond my abilities and comprehension can bring the essence of life crashing down around the very ones I love.  Only you can know our heart, mind, body and spirit with discernment and grace.  Help us depend on the trust put within us with each waking moment.  With thanksgiving we open ourselves up to the light of today and pray that it shines in...around and through us even when darkness abides.  Grant us the peace that passes all understanding as we look to the One who loves us the most for knowing and understanding.
