Plant Fire Closed portion of Huntington's Fifth Avenue

A fire at the Flint Group Pigment Plant (a.k.a. BASF), 2401 Fifth Avenue reported at 11:03 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19 temporarily closed Fifth Avenue between 22nd and 24th Streets.

The fire which was reported in a chemical vessel has been extinguished without any reported injuries.  Cause of the blaze is unknown.

Flint Group Pigment has been the subject of various complaints from neighbors living nearby  to the WV Department of Environmental Protection related to a "musty" odor on multiple occasions. HNN has been receiving complaints about twice a week.
