DEVELOPING: Water Protection Passed House with Medical Monitoring

Updated 4 years ago

The House of Delegates voted 95-0 passing the Water Protection Act, which follows the MCHM spill into the Elk River. Aside from adding inspections and requirements for above ground tanks, the bill contains required medical monitoring. The water company would be required to install early spill detection equipment.

Next, the bill goes to a joint House and Senate committee to work out differences. The legislative session ends Saturday night.
