Mayor Anticipates Three to Four Months to Hire New Police Chief

Updated 4 years ago
Huntington Mayor Steve Williams told the Thursday afternoon work session of Huntington City Council April 22 that it would take an estimated three to four months to hire a new police chief.

"We will be casting a fairly extensive net," Williams said, emphasizing diversity recruitment of former chief Skip Holbrook's successor.

The search committee has been asked to "bring me three candidates better than what we had," Williams said.

May 16, 2014 is the deadline for applications.

Prior to his departure, Holbrook met with the committee to review threat assessments and challenges for the city.
